Still having fun with instant puff pastry. Now is the turn for the fussion. It’s Curry Puff, I’m using curry powder but it doesn’t work as I expected. The curry isn’t strong enough luckily the flavor of orange’s leaf enrich the taste.
New Pleasure in Town !!!
With just a dough of puff pastry, you can make almost anything you want.
1) Picnic Roll
On the puff pastry, put 2 slices of smoked beef + red bean + a handful of grated-mozarella + boiled egg.
Roll the puff pastry and sprinkle it with herbs and cheddar
2) Pineapple Pie
Same methode as the previous one, but fill the puff pastry with pineapple jam.
If you wonder how can a beginner like me making a perfect puff pastry? I tell you, I’m using the instant puff pastry that can be found at the store with affordable price. So I don’t need to knead the dough on my own, what I need to do is making something adorable for the filling.
So now, the instant puff pastries are the new instant noodle?
Still eggplant as the main Ingredients Fellow !!
I used to hate eggplants for it’s texture that disgusting me. Once I tasted it with sambal uleg, I changed my mind. It was Fantastic.
What make this dish difference with the dish on previous post ?
1. I fried the eggplant first with bread’s crumb before I assembly it in the tray.
2. I use potatoes not pasta as carbohydrate.
3. Slices of tomato on the topest layer of the dish make it fresher than the previous dish I introduced.
4. That’s it
Last but not least, the dish is Baked Fried-eggplant with Potatoes and Tomatoes.
ps : the dish is inspired by a recipe that I got from a cooking show on local TV.
Eggplant is easily found here in Indonesia especially Java island. Traditionally, in Indonesian home-cooked style dishes eggplant goes really-really well with sambal uleg. That formed my paradigm that eggplant only could be used in traditional, if I do something western don’t ever use egg plant. I was totally wrong.
I watched on int’l cooking show hosted by some of the most prominent names in food industry, they use egg plant like we Indonesian do.
The picture is Penne al Forno con Melanzane, haha it’s a bit hard to type the name even I don’t know how to pronounce those words. To make it simple, you can call this lovely dish “Penne with Eggplant”.
Oh, almost forget. For those of you who love to eat/cook pasta especially with carbonara sauce. I do really encourage you to try to make your own simple tomato paste, it’s not too difficult and taste better than the one that we usually bought in supermarket. Believe me, even the amateur and the beginner cook like me nail at the very first shot.
Orange Chicken Stew, inspired by the old recipes book owned by my mum. Originally it was Oxtail Stew. Just fyi the title of the book is the Secret of Kitchen’s Queen LOL, back then maybe people still not awared with gender equality things.
I supposed to use oxtail instead of chicken as the main ingredient, and Burgundi/ Brandy instead of orange juice. But since I couldn’t find ones in the fridge I substituted those and automatically the name of the dish changed into the one I told you earlier.
